In 2020 I made my first run for public office with the idea to run a completely boots on the ground grassroots campaign. COVID shut down the world and I was forced to sideline my campaign. My husband Tony Vest never stopped believing in me and after the elections made me promise not to be discouraged and that I would dust myself off and run again. On December 7th, 2020 at 1:31pm Tony would pass from COVID. Today being December 7th, 2023 at 1:31pm in a moment chosen to honor him and my word I officially filed to run in 2024 for NC House District 23 representing all of Edgecombe, Martin, and Bertie counties.
We are in a time where we face a fork in the road and the path we now choose will determine our future. This year we saw extreme power grabs from our General Assembly, a removal of transparency, and less support than ever for our rural communities and public schools while we continue to see our communities struggle. We need someone willing to fight for all of us. We need someone who is of, by, and for the people they serve. It is time to stand up and Be A Voice, Not An Echo, to change our place as the most distressed counties in the state, and as one shared voice have your voice help shape our future.
I look forward to what is to come, getting out and meeting each and every person, hearing each concern, and answering every question asked.
